Our West Midlands Shooting Ground

Our shooting grounds are made up of areas designated for different shooting sports, all of which can be booked or included in your package if you call to discuss it with us. Each shooting sport has its own qualities and advantages, and can be personally suited to your level of skill and ability – so you don’t need to worry about targets moving too fast or at angles too difficult to reach. Below is a guide to the different sections of shooting and sports here at Doveridge clay shooting.

Clay Shooting in the Valley and the Gardens

The valley and the gardens contain 19 stands between them, and are a great place for the first time shooter to start.  The Gardens in particular are dedicated to novice shooters, and therefore allow you to gain the most pleasure out of your visit to Doveridge.  You could even opt to have some private shooting tuition within the gardens as it’s the ideal location to improve your technique and skill level without having targets that are too challenging to tackle.

Shooting Guides

Within Doveridge shooting, we host a range of clay shooting sports for you to participate in, enjoy and even learn from. One of the most popular shooting choices for first time shooters is Down The Line shooting.

What Is Down The Line Shooting?

you and a group of four others stand and shoot as rising targets which are slightly easier to aim for than the other sports. There are 25 in a round, and the sport is well known for improving the beginner’s techniques quickly.

We also have 6 layouts for English Skeet, with skyline backdrops to ensure that targets are clearly visible in all weathers. We also offer compak shooting, which is a compact version of clay pigeon shooting that beginners tend to enjoy because there are lots of targets to break, and you can move up in levels as you improve in skill. The last – but definitely not least – shooting sport we accommodate for is ABT (automatic ball trap); there are five stands, with a group of 6 shooters having two shots each at a moving target from one of these stands (with the sixth shooter having a waiting period) before they move on to the next stand.
